This page explains, in plain language, what information Symptoms & Silence collects, how it is stored, and the choices you have.

What we collect

When you submit a story, we store the text you share, any images you upload, the alias or name you choose to display, and optional details such as location and the date your symptoms began. We do not require an account to read or submit.

How we use it

To display approved stories in the public archive.
To moderate submissions before they appear publicly.
To improve the readability and tone of the archive.

Anonymity

Choosing the anonymous option hides your alias from public view. We recommend not including identifying details (full names, addresses, clinic names) in the body of your story if you wish to remain private.

Storage

Submissions are stored on a managed cloud database with restricted access. Images are kept in a private storage bucket and only public URLs for approved stories are exposed.
